With Pit + Peak Avalanche Training our goal is to teach you in an easy and understandable environment so that you can apply those skills quickly and efficiently with confidence in the backcountry. Revelstoke & the Kootenays are big mountain terrain and it is necessary to have the proper tools in your pocket to safely navigate through the backcountry. In this course we provide you with a 2 full day course of on hands learning. The classroom portion will provide you with the basics of snow knowledge, how avalanches form and how to avoid them. With route planning, and the study of terrain choices and proper travel. You will put your skills to the test in the field portion of the course with on snow training, group rescue scenarios, one on one instruction for individual rescue, and then lastly snow profile education. With a deeper knowledge of how the snow bonds and avalanche properties form, you will feel more confident in your own decision making once you are done this course.
